TRAUMA THERAPY

When treating individuals with trauma, I typically use somatic experiencing and EMDR approaches along with talk therapy.

Somatic experiencing is a type of therapy that addresses the nervous system directly and can help alleviate difficult body sensations such as tightness, tension, and pain. Deep breathing is a common somatic experiencing technique.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) is a type of therapy that seeks to address traumatic memories and change your brain's relationship to them so they become less distressing.

Psychotherapeutic yoga is yoga with an emphasis on the mind. It can be an alternative or supplement to traditional talk therapy. It may be helpful for individuals who want to improve their relationships with their bodies, have not had success in traditional talk therapy, or feel they need something in addition to talk therapy.
